Creating a Support Team to build Confidence
If you are struggling with a desire to make decisions more easily, chances are you need a support team refresher:
You must be mindful of the people that you choose for a support team. The right support team people make all the difference. Having the wrong support team people is actually worse that not having a support team. When choosing support team folks remember that family is not the best support team; they are too emotionally tied to us. Family often cannot champion our success or share challenges without translating how our words or actions affect them. They are generally too tied to us emotionally and to anxious about our safety to champion our Authentic Self. Also consider choosing support team people for different facets of your life. You might have a support team person who champions your business plan or one who is a divorced mom with 2 kids like you.
Here are 5 indisputable characteristics of a strong support team:
1. Never ask you to compromise your Authentic Self for them for any reason.
2. Listen to you without judging.
3. Let you fall apart when you need to and don’t run away.
4. Remind you of your strengths and talents.
5. Offer you absolute love and support.
6. Helps you become better!
If you do not have support team people who share these 5 characteristics, find some new ones! You need at least 1 person; you don’t need an army. Remember that you cannot be successful alone. You just cannot. As humans, we do not exist on an island and thus, we need other people in our lives. But we need the right people in our lives, we need a support team who helps us become better.
